Kangaroo & Company Valentine Cards

It warmed up a little this weekend and our snow is all melted. Looks like it’s going to be dry for the next week. This weekend sure flew by, I did manage to make a couple of my valentine cards. Still have many more to go.

I used the same sketch from my last two cards to make these cards for my grandchildren.

For this card I started with a Heavy Basic White 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card base. I then ran a piece of Basic White 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 through my Cut and Emboss machine with the Brick and Mortar embossing folder #149643.I then layered a piece of old retired DSP (sorry I don’t know the name of the paper) that was cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 that I cut on a diagonal about 1/3 down. The xoxo stamp is from this month’s Paper Pumpkin. I emboss it with white embossing powder on a 5/8 in strip of Basic Black paper. I then layered it on a diagonal across the card and trimmed the ends.
I stamped two of the kangaroos and hearts from the Kangaroo & Company stamp set #154502 with Memento black ink. I stamped the little Love you much in Basic Red. I colored these with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Real Red Stampin Blends. I die cut all the shapes using the matching Kangaroo Dies #154334.
I glued the hearts to the top of the sentiment die cut. I then cut a small slit along the top of the pouch so the sentiment would be covered until you pull the hearts up. I used dimensionals on the back of the Kangaroo, avoiding the area where the sentiment slips in. I finished off the front with three small resin hearts embellishments #154578.

I stamped the little kangaroo on the bottom right corner of a piece of Basic White cut to 4 x 5 1/4 and then colored in with the same Stampin Blends as the big Kangaroo. I then stamped the inside sentiment from the Meant To Be stamp set #148626 with Basic Red ink. To finish off the envelope I glued a matching piece of DSP cut to 6 x 2/14 to the back flap.

This card was basically the same except I used the Painted Texture 3D folder #154317 to emboss the front Basic White sheet with. The DSP was the retired From My Heart. For the inside I used a 3/4in strip to match the front and layered the Basic White on a piece of Real Red.

I think my grandchildren Eli and Josie with enjoy these cards. I’d love to know which one is your favorite.

Stampin Up Well Suited Suite #2 Masculine Cards

Hi friends. It’s another cold and dreary day here in Nevada. We had about 1 inch of snow last night with more predicted for today. I guess it will be another stay in craft day. Oh darn! Haha.

I had the Well Suited DSP on my desk from yesterday and decided I would make another couple of masculine cards to add to my stash. These were so easy to make.

My first card I went with a grey and black scheme and the 2nd card I went with a blue color scheme. I tried to use up my scraps as much as possible.

I started each card with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Heavy Basic White card base. I then cut two piece of Basic White to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I ran one sheet through my Cut and Emboss machine using the Tasteful Textile 3D folder #152718 and the other using Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder #152702. I then cut two pieces of the Well Suited DSP to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and then cut each on a diagonal about 1/3 down. I then cut two strips of scraps at 6 in x 5/8. I choose Basic Black and Seaside Spray. I then punched the largest oval from the Double Oval Punch #154242 in Smoky Slate and Night of Navy. I then stamped the sentiment from the Handsomely Suited Stamp #154444 in Black and then Night of Navy on a scrap of Basic White. I punched these out with the smallest oval. It’s always easier to stamp then punch or die cut!

Since I had all the pieces ready it was just a couple of minutes to put them together. I added the embossed sheet to the card stock, then layered the colored DSP. I then laid the 5/8 in solid color strips along the diagonal and then trimmed the edges to match the card base. I then glued the sentiment to the larger oval. I popped this up with dimensionals over the solid strip. I added three of the matte black dots #154284 on the grey black card and dug in my stash for some retired blue holiday rhinestones to go with the blue theme card.

I added some matching paper to the envelope flap and another strip to the bottom of a piece of Basic White cut to 4 x 5 1/4 for the inside.

So easy to make! I think this design could be used for i birthdays, masculine cards, holiday cards and more. You could always add a die cut in place of the ovals and stamp your sentiment on the diagonal strip. Endless possibilities.

Hope you enjoyed these cards today. I’ll probably be back tomorrow with my Valentine cards. I know I’m running out of time if I’m going to mail them. I’m thinking I might use this same layout with some valentine paper and a couple of hearts with Happy Valentine’s Day stamped on the diagonal.

Stampin’ Up! Well Suited Masculine Card

It’s a cold and snowy day here in Nevada. A good day to stay in and craft. Today’s card was inspired from a You Tube live video by Lost in Paper I watched this afternoon. Therese lives in Australia and was making a masculine card based on an old sketch by Case this sketch!

I started with a Heavy Basic White card base cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored and folded in half. I then cut a piece of Night of Navy to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8. I cut a piece of Basic White to 5 1/4 x 4 and used the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder #152702 to give the piece some texture.
I then cut two 1 inch strips of Well Suited DSP #154562.  I cut one for the card front down to 4 inches and then I punched the flags out with the Banner Triple punch #138292. I cut three flags and then trimmed them down to 2 inches.
I popped up the paisley side of the strip with dimensionals and then glued two flags navy side to the top of the strip and then placed the middle flag underneath the strip. I added a dimensional under the two top flags to keep them the same height as the paisley strip. I added 3 of the very popular new matte black dots #154284 to finish it off.
I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink from the Handsomely Suited stamp set on a scrap of Night of Navy and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I used the Classic Label punch #141491 to punch it out. I added some mini dimensionals to pop it centered between the edge and the strip.

For the inside I duplicated the front with a piece of Basic White 4 x 5 1/4 glued to a piece of Night of Navy cut to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8. I stamped the sentiment from the Handsomely Suited stamp set in Night of Navy. I added a 1/2 strip of the paisley print DSP up about 1/2 inch from the bottom. I then added a piece of the navy print cut to 6 by 2 1/4 to the envelope flap and trimmed it down.

Here’s the sketch the card was based off of. CTS#25 retro or new CTS#405.

I’m sure you will agree with me that it is always a challenge to make masculine cards! I feel like this sketch lent itself well to a masculine card.

We are expecting more snow tonight and tomorrow so I might just have another card for you tomorrow. If so it will probably be a Valentine’s card. I’m running out of time to get them made in time to mail.

Hydrangea Hill Stampin Up FSM469 card

I can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks since I posted last. What can I say,  I guess life got away from me. I needed a few thank you cards for my customers so I incorporated the current Freshly Made Sketches #469 challenge into my card design. Killed two birds with one stone.

I started with a standard basic white card base. I added a piece of Gorgeous Grape cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. I then layered a piece of basic white cut to 4 x 5 1/4 which I embossed the top 3rd with the Meadow Moments embossing folder. I then layered 3 1/2 in strips of the Hydrangea Hill Mercury Glass Designer Acetate on the bottom. I stamped the thank you sentiment from the Lots of Heart Stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink. I then stamped the Hydrangea from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set with memento black on Basic White card stock. I colored it in with the light and dark Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Pear Pizza Stampin Blends. I then cut it out with the Hydrangea dies. I popped this up with dimensionals and then added 3 of the Pastel Pearls to finish off the card.

I added a piece of Gorgeous Grape cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. I then layered a piece of basic white cut to 4 x 5 1/4 on top. I stamped the sentiment from the Flowering Blooms stamp set in Gorgeous Grape and added a small strip of the Hydrangea Hill Mercury Glass acetate to the bottom. For the envelope I cut a 6 x 2 1/4 in piece of Hydrangea Hill DSP and glued it to the back flap of a basic white medium envelope.

Here is the Freshly Made Sketch the card was based off of.

Update: My card was chosen for the Queen of Clean!

Stampin’ Up! Brushed Blooms FSM467

I’m back with another card using one of the new stamp sets from the Jan-Jun 2021 mini catalog that just went live Jan 5th. If you haven’t checked it out yet you are missing a lot of great new stamp sets.

I used the Brushed Blooms stamp set for this card that I’m entering in the Freshly Made Sketches 467 challenge.  The challenge was for a slim line card which has become a very popular trend in card making lately.

I started with a 8 1/2 by 7 inch piece of heavy Whisper White(now called Basic White) which I scored in half to form the base. I then used a piece of gold foil cut to 8 1/4 by 3 1/4. On top of that I added my stamped piece of Whisper white cut to 8 by 3 on which I used 7 different shades of red to pink ink to stamp the background using the stamp from the Brushed Blooms set.

I stamped the sentiment from the Hearts & Kisses set on the very bottom with memento ink. I added a gold foil heart that I die cut with a heart from the Many Hearts Dies. I then stamped the lips with Lovely Lipstick on Whisper White and punched it out using the Kiss Punch which is sold as a bundle with the Hearts & Kisses Stamp.I stamped the xoxo from the same set and fuzzy cut it out. I popped up the  lips and the xoxo using dimensionals.

For the inside I stamped the sentiment from the Hearts & Kisses set and then stamped the lips with Lovely Lipstick to match lips on the outside.

I finished it off with a slim line envelope made with the Love You Always DSP. I cut a piece to 8 1/2 by 11. Score the top of the 11 in side at 1 1/4 and the bottom at 10 in. I then score the sides at 2 in and 5 1/2. I cut each corner out along the score lines. Rounded the corners on the 1 1/4 in flap and then glued it together.

Here is the sketch the card was based off.

Hope this inspired you to get crafty.  Have a good weekend. I get to babysit my 8 month old granddaughter Saturday night. I’m looking forward to it. Just hope she sleeps through the night for us!

Stampin Up Well Suited Suite Card

I’ve been busy making swap cards and have been lagging on doing my posts! This card made with the new Well Suited card is also for a swap. This time I made 24 cards. I’m always trying to come up with masculine birthday card ideas and I though this Suite was the perfect solution.

For this card I used the Well Suited DSP, the stamp set and the dies. I heat embossed the two bow ties with white embossing powder on Night of Navy leaving a spot for the DSP tie I stamped and cut from the Well Suited DSP. I glued this onto a 3 3/4 by 8 1/2 strip of Basic Grey paper scored in the middle. I cut 2 strips of 3/4 by 4 DSP and glued to each side of a basic grey card base cut to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2. I then glued the basic grey piece in the middle. I added a 3/4 by 5 1/4 piece of Basic Grey to the top and added two of the little button dies out of Basic Black card stock. I used the new Double Oval Punch to punch out a piece of Poppy Parade and then stamped the sentiment on Whisper White with Night of Navy ink and punched it out with the smaller oval punch. i popped this up with dimensionals centered in the middle of the small Basic Grey strip.
For the inside I cut a piece of Whisper White to 3 3/4 x 4 and stamped the sentiment and small bow tie with Night of Navy ink. I also stamped the small bow tie on the lower left front of the envelope to tie it all together.
